Somorrostro

Somorrostro is a research project centered on ceramic fragments recovered from the beach of the historical Somorrostro neighborhood in Barcelona — a working-class settlement that existed on the Barceloneta shore until its demolition in the 1960s.

The fragments are gathered, studied, and worked with as material witnesses: objects that carry the memory of a community erased from official history. Supported by the Beca Territoris grant, Centre Cívic Barceloneta, Barcelona.
